FIDUS ACHATES!!..

FIDUS ACHATES!!..

Before u scratch your head to know what the title means…let me take that pain off, it means-A TRUE FRIEND simple but deep-rooted to be just another phrase to me..and I believe, to most of us..so why not let that depth be felt...
This post is dedicated to all those allays and admirers, the guides and philosophers, who hold a very high place in this otherwise dull life.. as it would’ve been very different..and equally difficult without keeping you in mind while writing this .
Though the term can’t  be barricaded, all of us have our own versions of defining a ‘true friend’(and with due respect..almost all correct)..Sometimes, we even stretch into classifications-the just friend, the good ones and The Best ones..
Though I am happy to call all of mine just friends, for they have all been only just(righteous, and honest) to me..and that is just(exactly) what matters to me.. and I am proud to say that I have more than ‘just a few’ of them..[U got me!!The repetition is just totally intended..;)]
When we honestly ask ourselves which persons in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that they are those who, instead of giving advice, solutions or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.  The ones who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, they are the one who really care..Friends!!
Whether playing your favorite games,
Or the music you sing & listen,
When it comes to a friend,
There's just no competition...

And to all those dunce caps who can seep in the controversy of  “Friends and Lovers”..take this:
Friends can be “in like” with as profound a thud as romantic partners are  “in love”.. and we rarely “fall” in friendship!!
[That shows the Chak De! effect on me..:)]
To the hardcore logicians and rationalists..for whom  Friendship-like any other thing which can’t be proved by equations, and like philosophy or   art, seems unnecessary...Yes my dear friends! It probably has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.
In everyone's life, at some time or the other- the inner fire seems to have gone out.  It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should all be thankful for that being, that friend who rekindles the inner spirit..It might be someone u have known since childhood or someone as new to you as those pair of shoes..but he surely is a friend..and that’s why I say the term can’t be barricaded..
When you be a friend, that in itself is a tremendous thing..After all, what's a life, anyway? We're born, we live a little while, we die. By helping someone on the way, perhaps we were trying to lift up our own life by a trifle. Heavens know! Anyone's life can stand a little of that..quite happily if someone laughs at your jokes even when they're not so good, and sympathizes with your problems when they're not so bad..when u know that even constant use will not rag this fabric..of friendship...J
This effort is not at all intended to make you reach a conclusion..or make you agree with my version..but it surely is intended to clear that smog of confusion when your head and heart don’t work in tandem with each other..to decide whether the one you just met, or the one you have been with for so long..or may be the one you are going to meet…is actually your FIDUS ACHATES…your discovery, with whom you can grow separately without growing apart..

When it rains-it rains,
When it snows-it snows,
I wrote this specially for you
& you're the only one who knows...

THE UNDER-ACHIEVERS

THE UNDER-ACHIEVERS
Have you ever come across a stage in your life- when u begin to question your own abilities? When, in the name of self realization, introspection (or whatever), u curse yourself for not being able to achieve one bit of all u dreamt of being One Day. And in that storm, you yourself wipe away whatever little accomplishments you made..??
We all face a lot of such circumstances where life imposes a doubly complicated question to every single answer we put on offer...and eventually we surrender, rather Lose ourselves to the hands of destiny.
This little piece of writing is addressed to all such people who underwent that Stage..or are going to undergo someday..
Sudha Chandran-a very active and famous yesteryears Indian artist, carried a childhood dream to evolve as an ace dancer.. It was as if destiny had confronted Sudha in the form of Dronacharya, at the age of 17, with most of the formal training and some serious recognitions under her belt, she met an accident , and due to a developing gangrene, her right leg was amputated 7 ½ inches below the knee..this is a catastrophic loss..at least most normal humans would like to believe that way..
She thought the same way, but unlike most of us, with a different perspective. She chose the less travelled road, and on the sole support of her grit to hold her head high forever, fought back in style to be called as the Nritya Mayuri. You talk about thinking on your feet, she danced on them- the ‘pseudo’ ones..
What happened to her could happen to any of us...A setback or an accident – or a failure, which can often appear to be the end of the road. But we need to believe the fact that “It seldom is”, as Life goes on!
They say when one door shuts, another opens. It’s just that we get so busy staring at the closed door and banging our head against it that we fail to spot the other door opening. Learning to cope with the failure is often the first – and most critical step towards success..whether it be on the academic front, the relationships front..or whatever fronts or backs u want to attach to it..
What matters is never to have let that failure impact your sense of self-belief.
You are a star, with unique talents. Didn’t clear the entrance exam to an engineering college? Maybe you weren’t meant to be an engineer, and those who clear ain’t all genius either. Take it on your chin and do what YOU can do better..but DO try again if your heart tells you “Come on! this was your Dream”..that’s it!!
Even Albert Einstein didn’t clear the entrance exam to join a polytechnic. But he didn’t do too badly, did he? Maybe there is a better, brighter career waiting for you. The trick is to move on like Einstein, like Sudha Chandran, and a certain ‘someone’ you may find around you..
Don’t feel blue, just push that door open..again and again..Go find your place in the Sun!
As Rudyard Kipling said:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss.

Remember, Nobody can snatch your chance to prove that u were NEVER A FAILURE…U WERE JUST AN UNDERACHIEVER..
